Anne-Claude Jeitz and Alain Calliste renew the blowtorch glass technique by bringing a narrative and poetic dimension to it. Their glass lace works are the result of a specific technique: a mesh of crisscrossed threads forming a moldable and extinguishable fabric. Alain Calliste, a self-taught visual artist from the north, met Luxembourger Anne-Claude Jeitz in 2002, trained at ENSAD in Paris, interior architecture section. Glass brings them together during flame glass workshops, notably with the artist Jay Musler in Frauneau. Together, they started making glass beads. The duo later created Intimate Journal, an impressive artist residency-exhibition at the Sars-Poteries glass museum-workshop in 2011. This recent sculpture, Once Upon a Time, evokes a nostalgic gesture, that of recovery and groping wool during the evenings of yesteryear . A friendly moment that new communication technologies have made us forget. The tool hands, frozen and erect, also reveal the subtle entanglement between the body and the material in the processes of artistic creation.
