Invited to exhibit at the new Conches glass museum when it reopened to the public, Philip Baldwin and Monica Guggisberg responded favorably to the carte blanche offered to them, by exploring the ancestral theme of the amphora.
Fascinated by the perfect combination of its function and its form, the artists have created for the occasion nine new installations aimed at reinterpreting this thousand-year-old object, the staging of which prompts us to consider why this simple vase and its pointed shape inform both our history and, more subtly, our present.
