Summary: At the end of the nineteenth century, in Bohemia, in the middle of Europe, glass objects produced by Loetz were extremely successful. With iridescent surface decorations and undulating forms inspired by nature, the glassworks’ vases and cups are fully consistent with the Austrian Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) style, which predominated in this era’s decorative arts. This constant and unwavering creativity, partially made possible thanks to partnerships with Viennese merchants and artists, also led Loetz to receive several awards in World Expositions, in particular in Paris in 1900. Published for the Loetz 1900 - Bohemian Glassware exhibition which was held at the Conches Glass Museum from 17 March to 25 November 2018, the catalogue presents one hundred twenty-five works shown in the exhibition.
